Why elope on the Costa Daurada

The Costa Daurada — the "golden coast" — takes its name from its sand: fine, pale and golden, glowing with the light at each end of the day. It is a coast of long, flat beaches and a shallow, calm sea, very different from a cliff-lined shore. That makes it perfect for a barefoot elopement: you can wade into the water, sit on the sand and move slowly, with no scrambling.

We live in Reus, minutes from the sea, and know this coast inch by inch: where the wild coves still are, where the sand is loveliest, when the light lands on each beach. An elopement here isn't a big wedding made small; it's the day that belongs to just the two of you, with the waves as the only soundtrack.

Where to marry: real spots on the Costa Daurada

Some of the places we genuinely use, with what we can tell you as a photographer and videographer who work this coast often.

Cala Fonda (Waikiki), Tarragona

A wild, undeveloped cove tucked behind the Marquesa pine forest, no facilities in sight, reached only on foot through the pines. It's one of the wildest, most beautiful spots on the coast; it is a clothing-optional beach, so we go respectfully and plan the timing for real privacy. The walk in is part of the day.

Els Muntanyans de Torredembarra

A protected dune system (Espai Natural Protegit) with lagoons, reed beds and untouched sand — a landscape that barely survives elsewhere on the coast. It's gorgeous for an elopement but fragile: you always walk on the marked paths, never on the dunes.

Punta de la Mora

Low golden-rock bluffs crowned with pines, the lighthouse behind and quiet coves below. This is where the Costa Daurada turns wilder — ideal if you want some relief and texture without giving up the sea's closeness.

Cap de Salou coves (Cala Crancs, Platja dels Capellans)

South of Salou, the headland hides small, sheltered coves among rocks and pines, such as Cala Crancs or Platja dels Capellans. The water is clear and calm — perfect for a short morning ceremony before the crowds arrive.

Miami Platja and Mont-roig coves

Further south, the Mont-roig del Camp shoreline unfolds into a string of little coves between rocky stretches, often emptier than the central beaches — good if you want privacy without straying far.

Cambrils, La Pineda and the Salou promenade at dawn

The long fine-sand beaches of Cambrils and La Pineda, or the Salou seafront promenade at first light, offer space and complete emptiness if you rise early. The low morning light across wet sand is hard to beat.

Permits and regulations

Most public beaches on the Costa Daurada allow a small, intimate ceremony without fuss, but it's worth checking with the town hall, especially in July and August: some municipalities require a permit for events or professional shoots on the sand in high season. We clarify this and, if needed, handle it.

Els Muntanyans de Torredembarra is a protected natural space (Espai Natural Protegit): you must keep to the marked paths, never tread on the dunes or vegetation, and respect the group restrictions. Cala Fonda and other wild coves have no facilities, so we come fully prepared and carry everything out again. Either way, we guide you so the day stays legal, calm and gentle on the surroundings.

Best time of year

Our favourite months are May–June and September–October: warm sea, empty beaches and the soft, golden light that gives the coast its name. Sunrise on the sand is the magic moment of the year, with the beach entirely to yourselves.

July and August are lovely but busy, so we work at first light for emptiness. In winter, the beaches lie deserted, with a moodier, cinematic feel many couples love.

How the day works

We live in the Baix Camp, minutes from the coast, which means no travel surcharge anywhere on the Costa Daurada. We know the access points and the best light window at each beach, so you never lose a minute searching.

We decide together whether you'd rather have sunrise or sunset — each has its own character — and build a relaxed, barefoot day at your own pace. It works just as well if it's just the two of you or a very small group of guests. Eric films and Ferran shoots the stills, both at once, without getting in your way.

What makes eloping here special

The golden light that names this coast is no cliché: at sunrise and sunset the fine sand reflects a warmth that wraps the whole frame. With the calm sea in front and an empty beach around you, the intimacy is complete.

It's marrying with your feet in the sand, unhurried, listening only to the waves — and that simplicity is what makes the day stay with you.

Our work on the coast

These images are real work of ours. We don't yet have an elopement published on this exact cove, but we shoot this coast constantly and know exactly what we can offer you.

Frequently asked questions

Is a beach elopement legal? Does it count as a wedding?

The beach celebration is the symbolic, emotional ceremony of the day. The legal marriage is done before or after at the registry or notary, and we explain how to fit the two together.

Can we bring guests?

Of course. An elopement can be just the two of you or a very small group of close family and friends. On the sand and in the little coves we recommend keeping the group small.

Do you shoot photo and video together?

Yes. Ferran shoots the photography and Eric films the video, both on the same day and coordinated, so you get both without doubling up suppliers or interrupting the moment.

Do you only work on the Costa Daurada?

No. The Costa Daurada is our home patch, but we do elopements all across Catalonia: Siurana, Tarragona, Barcelona, the Ebre Delta and wherever you picture it.

When will we receive the material?

We send you a quick selection very soon, and the full delivery is usually ready in about a week.
