Why elope in Tarragona

Tarragona is one of the few cities where you can say yes with the Roman amphitheatre at your feet and the open sea behind, all in the same frame. It was Tarraco, capital of Roman Hispania, and even today you walk on top of two thousand years of history, between cyclopean walls and a stone balcony over the sea.

For an elopement that is a gift: no big production is needed, the city hands it to you. An old-town alley at first light, the Balcó balustrade at dawn, an empty urban beach. The backdrop is a World Heritage Site and the only agenda is your own.

And it's home. We live in Reus, fifteen minutes away, and we have photographed and filmed dozens of weddings across the Camp de Tarragona. We know the light of every hour and which beach will be empty on a Tuesday in May.

Where to elope in Tarragona

Seven real spots we know from walking them. Light, stone and sea genuinely work here for a small ceremony.

Balcó del Mediterrani

The iron balustrade at the end of the Rambla Nova is the city's most iconic viewpoint. At dawn it's all yours, with the sea full of light: an exchange of vows here is worth the trip on its own.

Passeig Arqueològic and the Roman walls

Beneath the cyclopean walls, the tree-lined path gives you millennia-old stone, green shade and almost nobody at first light. It's our favourite place for portraits.

Roman Amphitheatre and Part Alta

The amphitheatre, open to the sea, and the medieval streets of the Part Alta rising to the Cathedral are the heart of Tarraco, a stone film set for video. A ceremony inside needs a permit; its surroundings are free.

Platja del Miracle at dawn

The urban beach, right below the Part Alta and the amphitheatre. At daybreak it's an empty stage with the ancient city behind and a pink light that lasts only minutes.

Punta de la Mora and the lighthouse

A few minutes north, the coast turns wild: pine-topped cliffs, coves and an 18th-century lighthouse. Untouched nature for couples who want privacy and a touch of adventure.

Tamarit Castle and beach

The medieval castle rises over the sand, above the mouth of the Gaià river. Commanding the wild beach, it's one of the most striking images on the Costa Daurada; a private, bookable venue.

El Serrallo

The fishing quarter, with its boats, nets and the coloured façades of the working harbour. The antidote to the monument: texture, everyday life and warm light off the water.

Permits and where you can marry

The Roman monumental ensemble —the Amphitheatre, the Passeig Arqueològic, the Circus and the walls— is a UNESCO World Heritage Site managed by the Museu d'Història de Tarragona. A professional shoot inside these ticketed monuments requires authorization and fees arranged in advance; we handle that for you.

The streets of the Part Alta, the Balcó del Mediterrani and the beaches, on the other hand, are public space: for an intimate ceremony with no staging and no blocking of access, no special permits are needed. Tamarit Castle is a private venue booked for ceremonies. You choose the spot; we tell you what's free and what needs authorization.

When to elope: the best season

We recommend late spring (May and June) and autumn (September and October): gentle temperatures, a calm sea and a golden light kept especially clean by the reflection off the Mediterranean. August is the busiest month; if you're after privacy, avoid it or start very early.

Even winter works for the old town: an empty Part Alta, stone streets with no tourists and a low, dramatic light. We always work around sunrise and sunset, the best hours in Tarragona.

Logistics: how the day flows

Here we have a real advantage: we are from Reus, fifteen minutes away. We charge no travel or per-diem surcharge, and we can scout the spots and the light in advance. If you're coming from further afield, the AVE Camp de Tarragona station drops you half an hour away and Reus airport is next door.

An elopement is built around the golden hour: a morning might start before sunrise at the Balcó or Platja del Miracle for the vows, continue with portraits through an empty Part Alta, and end with a vermouth in El Serrallo, unhurried.

Why Tarragona is special

There are few places where love comes with a two-thousand-year-old set. To marry in Tarragona is to do it on the same stone the Romans cut and before the same sea they looked out on: history and horizon at once.

For us, being local, it's personal too. We know when the light hits the wall and how the sea changes colour by the hour. An elopement in Tarragona isn't a repeated postcard; it's your day written with the city we love.

Our work

These images are our real work, from weddings and couples we have photographed and filmed; we don't yet have a gallery from an elopement shot specifically in Tarragona, and we'd rather tell you that than let you assume otherwise. What is true is that we work in the Camp de Tarragona constantly: some of the real weddings we link below took place right here. This is our eye; your Tarragona elopement would be just as much your own.

Frequently asked questions

Is an elopement in Tarragona legally a wedding?

The ceremony we document is intimate and personal —the two of you, or ten people with your closest circle— but on its own it isn't the civil formality. The legal marriage is registered at the courthouse or before a notary; many couples do the paperwork on another day and keep Tarragona for the celebration. We'll guide you on how to combine the two.

Do you shoot photo and video together?

Yes, and it's what sets us apart: we are two brothers, Ferran on photo and Eric on video, working together on the same day. You get both coordinated perspectives from a single team, without adding vendors.

Can we marry inside the amphitheatre or the Roman monuments?

You can, with conditions. The ticketed Roman monuments are a UNESCO World Heritage Site managed by the Museu d'Història de Tarragona: a shoot inside requires authorization and fees, which we arrange. If you'd rather skip it, the Part Alta, the Balcó and the beaches are free and just as spectacular.

Do you only work in Tarragona?

No. We're from Reus and Tarragona is our natural territory, but we film and photograph elopements across all of Catalonia: Siurana, the Ebre Delta, the Costa Daurada, Barcelona and the Pyrenees.

When will we have the photos and video?

Quickly: our usual delivery is about one week. An elopement produces less material than a large wedding, and we know you're eager to relive the day.
