Filming a wedding in the Terres de Lleida

Lleida is made for movement. Its flat horizons, the tracks between canals and the vast skies call for a moving camera: a gentle dolly across the threshing floor, a shot that opens to leave the couple tiny in the middle of the plain, a drone that rises and reveals the landscape as far as the eye can see. Few regions in Catalonia offer this breadth.

We are two brothers from Reus —Eric on the film camera, Ferran on stills— and we have spent more than fifteen years filming weddings across the country. We come to western Catalonia on purpose: we know which hour gives the best light over the dry plains, and how to keep so vast a landscape from swallowing people, making them the protagonists instead.

And there is one image only Lleida can give you: the drone over the fruit-blossom fields of Aitona, Alcarràs and Torres de Segre in March, a sea of pink and white seen from the air. It is spectacular, and we want it responsibly: with permits and respecting the private farm. We will show you how to weave it into your film.

Settings to film in Lleida

Five or six locations we know from walking them, thought through for motion and sound, not just for a still frame.

The fruit-blossom fields, from the air (Aitona · Alcarràs · Torres de Segre)

The signature image of western-Catalan film. In March, the drone flies over thousands of hectares of pink and white blossom for cinematic aerial shots. We do it with flight permits and always ask the farmer for access: these are private farms. No shot is worth disrespecting the land.

The Seu Vella and its hilltop

The old cathedral and castle on the hill make an unbeatable establishing shot: stone, history and 360° views over the plain. It is a monument with hours and rules; to film there (and to fly nearby) we plan ahead and respect the grounds and the airspace.

Castell de Gardeny

The Templar complex, quieter, offers geometry and texture for detail shots and short dolly moves. The golden stone at dusk is a cinematic backdrop with historic character.

The Segrià rural fincas

Threshing-floor courtyards, converted fruit warehouses and rural estates of the Segrià: the setting of the reception and the party. Spaces with soul where we capture ambient sound, the toasts and the dancing with the same care as the image.

The dry plains and wheat fields

In summer, the drone reveals another western Catalonia: golden wheat fields, the geometry of cultivation and straight tracks to the horizon. Clean, luminous aerial shots to open or close the film.

The plain and the great skies of Ponent

The ultimate stage is the horizon itself: sunset over the plain, clouds in motion and the amber light crossing the fields. The perfect backdrop for the vows and for the most moving shots.

The sound and moving light of western Catalonia

Sound is half the film. On the plain, far from the noise, the vows, the wind through the orchards and the silence before the "I do" record beautifully. We carry discreet microphones and record the ceremony with quality so that, years later, you hear your own voice exactly as it sounded.

Lleida's continental light —soft fog in the morning, gold in the afternoon— is a gift for film. The floració (late February – March) adds colour and fragility, but it is brief and weather-dependent: we work it with margin. We edit with a calm, editorial pace, letting the landscape breathe between moments.

How we film in Lleida

  • Cinematic landscape: wide shots and a moving camera that make the most of the flat horizon and the sheer scale of the western sky.
  • Drone with permits: we fly over the flowering fields and the plains legally and responsibly, always with authorised access to the private farm.
  • Real ceremony sound: discreet microphones for the vows, the reading and the toasts. Your voice is the thread of the film.
  • The Seu Vella as an establishing shot: we know its hours and surroundings to capture the grand view of the city while respecting the monument.
  • Stills and film as siblings: Eric films while Ferran photographs. You will find the stills version on our *wedding photographer in Lleida* page.

Our films

We do not post a fake "Lleida" video: we are honest that we travel there from Reus. Watch our real films to judge the pace, the sound and the cinematic eye we bring to every wedding.

Frequently asked questions

Do you travel to Lleida to film a wedding?

Yes, and we love it. We are based in Reus, and the city of Lleida is about an hour and a half away by motorway (the A-2); the Terres de Lleida are one of our favourite destinations. We film across all of western Catalonia —Segrià, Urgell, Les Garrigues, Pla d'Urgell. Depending on the ceremony time, we may travel the day before to arrive with margin and set up the gear calmly.

Can you fly the drone over the flowering fields?

Yes, and it is one of the most powerful images we can give you, but with two non-negotiable conditions: valid flight permits and the owner's permission, because the farm is private. We fly responsibly, disturbing and damaging nothing. If the wedding falls in March, we plan the flight in advance and keep an alternative in case the weather or the blossom do not cooperate.

Can you film at the Seu Vella?

The Seu Vella is a monument with visiting hours and rules. You can film there while respecting access and, for formal shots or a drone flight near the grounds, it needs planning and compliance with the regulations. The hilltop and the outward views give a magnificent establishing shot of the city.

What is the difference between your video and your photo?

Video is motion and sound: cinematic landscape, a drone over the flowering fields and the voice of the ceremony you will relive years later. Photography chases the lasting instant —the blossom, the big-sky portrait, the light of the Seu. You will find it on our *wedding photographer in Lleida* page; most couples book us together, one brother on each camera.

When is the best time to marry in Lleida?

For aerial shots of the pink-and-white blossom, late February and March (cold but unique). For mild temperatures and golden light, May-June and September-October. In summer, the golden wheat fields make beautiful drone shots, despite the heat of the plain; we always film at the magic hour.
